Welcome to the Windows Routing Information page
Windows Routing is a difficult stability concept and probably should not be used. There are better, more reliable and cost effective, hardware routers available. It is difficult to justify this costly operating system.
Windows Routing uses the RIP routing protocol. For more information about the RIP protocol, click here.
Setting up a router in Windows is fairly easy, and can be completed in a few easy steps:
- Add the TCP/IP protocol to all of your NICs.
- Install the Windows routing service.
- Add some IP numbers to the NICs. Becareful not to add a gateway to any NIC at this time.
- Add the gateway to the NIC that will be your default.
- Test away!
